Barnes and Noble redesigned their storefronts to highlight their own e-reader device. Was it worth it?

Nook lost about $55 million on $153 million in sales — scary numbers by themselves. Even scarier was the both device and content sales were down versus the comparable period last year — way down: about 23% and 16%, respectively. At a time where even slowing ebook sales gains are buoying competitors like Amazon, Apple and Kobo, B&N is seeing sharp losses.

Barnes and Noble was late to the game on the e-reader and decided not to go with a pre-existing service and the discussion has to be are they trying to do too much? Will they be another bookstore chain to fold?
