I just finished reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I started the book almost a year ago, but life and a hectic weekly schedule stopped me in the middle of the book. I thought it was going to be hard to re-enter the world of two realities that Gaiman created.

The way Gaiman combines mythology, history, and religion in the character of Shadow whose release from prison opens the world of possibility makes the reader question whether he or she is seeing the world for what it really is or whether he or she is seeing only part of reality. Reading Gaiman’s book is agreeing to question what you have always believed and seen as truth. It is also agreeing to see yourself in a new light.

This is not a book or an experience I will quickly forget.
