It’s interesting, isn’t it that even though social media and online communication have connected people to each other, people still want to buy books that others recommend.

It’s why Goodreads works. I know the people who I’m connected to on Goodreads and I know whether we share the same interests or not. It’s not a shot in the dark, it’s a recommendation from a friend. Social sharing has changed book buying, but not the practice of wanting to read what your friends want to read, just how you know what your friends are reading.
